Most of the time, I really don't care what kinds of things people get up to in fic -- the scroll button and the close tab are our friends. I'm going to make an exception in this case. I totally get that if a canon text becomes unhappy for people, it's easier to enjoy it if you detach emotionally from it, and that if fans didn't care so much about a show, they wouldn't bother criticizing.
